Shetland fleece and fibre
This is my
speciality and is produced from my own British bred flock of sheep who are
all sheared by my husband Johnny, at Springhill
Farm in the Scottish Borders.
Spinners can choose whether to start from scratch and prepare
their own fleece or obtain washed and carded fibres, ready for
spinning.
Shetland
fleeces are sold by the individual fleece rather than by the
kilo as they are so small.
Most skirted Shetland fleeces
average about a kilo in weight, which is generally enough to make a large jumper
or several smaller pieces.
Unwashed
but well skirted fleeces are usually available from June
each year and pre-booked requests will be accepted.
