We have a few knitting kits for adults and children which are ideal 'starter packs' for beginners, or as fun gifts for your friends, even if they are not experienced knitters. There are also a few more complicated patterns which are suitable for the more experienced knitter! Our kits are available from £9.50 and all the patterns are £2.50 each if purchased on their own.

The complete Kits are always individually and carefully packed to order and include the pattern and the yarn required to complete the project. Each pattern lists the quantity and type of yarn that is required to complete the project.
The lovely wooden needles from Brittany and Symfonie can be purchased separately,  so please see the needles pages
.
Please use the navigation on the right to view each one and click on the next page to see more.

I designed this waistcoat modelled from an old favourite of mine with the lovely natural horn buttons to fasten it.
This unisex style flatters both men and women, in a boxy shape that suits everyone with or without an actual waist! I pinned it back on the model shown, which is knitted in the large size.

As a matter of choice, its easy to include the little pockets if you wish.

Shetland Yarn is required - either my Moondance Soft Shetland DK or Moondance DK Tweed

Needles (sold separately): 3.5 mm circular needles for armhole (60 cm) and body edging (100 or 120 cm), and 4 mm straight needles for body.

A charming bell shaped hat, reminiscent of the 1920's - 1930's cloche style.  Inspired by our own Coldingham wind chill factor! Very easy to knit in the round.  Optional topknot knit in I-cord.

A good starter pattern. Knit here in my Moorit brown shade, 'Moorland', with design accent in the complimentary shade, 'Porridge'.

This is a very easy to knit hat and would suit a beginning or intermediate knitter. The idea came from watching one of my Shetland ewes with her lamb standing in her shadow. The lamb was a contrasting colour so they made a cute pair!

The kit contains 2 skeins of Moondance natural Shetland yarn, the pattern and a set of double  point needles, enough to  make three hats! Available in two colourways; 'Porridge' & 'Moorland' (as pictured) or 'Granite' & 'Mist' (our two shades of gray).

Needles required (sold separately):4mm/U.S. 6 (40cm/16in) circular needles, and 4mm double-pointed for the top of hat.

Yarn (200g) and Pattern - Price: £16.50
Yarn (100g mixed, to make one hat only) and Pattern - Price: £10.50

This special mitten pattern can be knit as shown with cables (for the intermediate knitter), or simply knitted in the 4X1 rib pattern (for the beginning knitter).

The yarn supplied in the kit will be enough to knit two pairs of mittens, one with light cuffs and thumbs, as shown and another in reverse, with dark cuffs and thumbs.

Needles required (sold separately): 4mm/U.S. 6 double-pointed needles and a cable needle.

Yarn and Pattern (150g in either solid colour or two contrasting mixed colours will make two pairs)

Here is the same mittens pattern knitted in my tweed flecked yarn.

With small splashes of rust, green and turquoise dyed wool being added to the natural fleece during the carding process, they become scattered through the twist to produce an attractive and rustic tweed effect to the yarn.

Scarf as shown is knit from 'Granite' and a small amount of 'Mist' for the contrasting colour; This scarf pattern is so simple and easy to knit.

Inspired by the stone walls that have existed in the Scottish Borders for hundreds of years. It would suit a beginning or intermediate knitter.

The kit contains the pattern, two skeins of  Moondance 'Charcoal' Shetland and a small amount of 'Mist' enough yarn to make one extra long scarf measuring up to 72inches/180cm.

Needles required (sold separately): 4mm/U.S. 6 straight needles (alternatively 4.5mm/U.S. 7 if knitted tightly)
Yarn & Pattern - Price: £ 18.00

A beautifully fitting hat, in three sizes (S-M-L) the smallest size suiting most children.  With enough yarn in the kit to make two small or medium hats. This hat hugs your head securely with its stretchy cable and rib design.

With enough yarn to make at least two hats, it features a rolled edge and a ribbed edge, so you can wear it either way up to suit your preference. Included in the pattern is this useful little neck warmer that is fun to wear, quick to knit and a cute match for the  Hat!

As a small project, this pair make good way to learn cable knitting if you've never tried it before. An intermediate pattern knit on circular needles, and transferring to double point needles for the final top shaping.

Needles required (sold separately): 3.5mm or 3.75mm/U.S. 5 circular needle for ribbing, and 4mm/U.S. 6 circular needle for the body of hat and 4mm/U.S. 6 double-point needles for the top of the hat.
