About Us!

Margie Robinson originally founded her first shop in Oregon, USA, in 1992. Named Molehill Farm for the tiny acre of land attached to it; Margie began teaching spinning with the wool from her newly acquired sheep.

The shop eventually expanded to include weaving and knitting classes and all the fun supplies and accessories associated with these crafts.

Today that shop belongs to good friends in Oregon; as following her re-marriage to Johnny Robinson, a dedicated shepherd and sheepdog handler, Margie and her two sons relocated to Springhill Farm in Scotland in 1996. .

Margie's Studio at Springhill Farm

In December 2000 Margie opened the Moondance Wools Studio and Shop at Springhill Farm but only two months later the warnings were out for Foot & Mouth Disease and so like all of their neighbours they decided for safety's sake to close all traffic to the farm.

It was not until December 2001 that they were able to re-open the farm and happily things have been growing ever since.

Just like her former business, Moondance Wools became a full-service teaching centre. Building around the sense of community with other artists and crafters who wanted to meet and share their ideas and skills in a friendly and soothing environment.

A large part of Margie's philosophy is that the inner creative process involved in these ancient and historic crafts is very therapeutic in today's modern world.

However, the modern pace can push us into the frantic zone!

So we can all benefit from sitting still and slowing down to explore our creative side, including Margie!

'Flo' and 'Meggie' seek your attention!

Today, through Moondance Wools, Margie concentrates on her own designs, patterns and creative work; producing her own Shetland yarn from her unique flock of Shetland sheep that graze the fields outside her studio window.

This unusual little flock is primarily made up of wethers, (neutered males) which are kept solely for their wool, instead of what would be their more usual destiny in the livestock trade; the meat market!

Although no longer a retail outlet for spinning, weaving, and knitting equipment, please take a few minutes to browse these pages.

Margie is now offering a number of designer yarns at huge savings during the summer of 2010, so 'Meggie' and 'Flo' her two Norfolk Terriers say, "Don't miss out on the Summer Yarns Sale pages and grab yourself a fantastic bargain!"

Margie is always very pleased to answer any enquiries or questions and if you would like to place an order or make an appointment to visit please contact Margie and do leave a message if your call isn't answered, as she may be working outside with the animals or in the garden!
