Moondance - Handwoven

I primarily weave scarves, throws, baby blankets, table runners, cushions and small mats.

I always use 100% natural fibre yarns, including wool from own sheep and alpaca, llama, cashmere or angora goat.

But I also like to use silk, linen and cotton yarns to create a a different texture..

Pictured on the left is a lovely chequer-patterned, baby blanket that I'm weaving this spring.

Woven in the prettiest shades of peach and apricot from a fine blend of pure merino and cashmere wools, One day soon it will wrap a little one in the softest of warmth and luxury!

There is colour inspiration all around me, from the subtle tones of autumn leaves and tree bark to rippling water.

I love the ancient stones of the dry stone walls that surround some of our fields on the farm, and which are found in the countryside all over the Scottish Borders.

Pictured on the right is a glimpse of  my studio, some of the tools of my craft and my work in progress!

When ever possible, I use my own yarn from my Moondance Flock, sometimes handspun or hand-dyed; or a selection from the other beautiful yarns I have in the studio.

A few examples of my handwoven items are illustrated on this page, including the lovely blanket-throw seen in the photo below. I hung over the fence to take the photo and one of my Shetland sheep was very curious and seems to be admiring my handiwork!
Who knows, she may have donated the fleece from it was spun and woven!
